What is an Authorized VIP Instructor?

The VocalizeU Teacher Network is a group of Authorized Teachers that use the Vocology in Practice (VIP) method of teaching voice. This means that each teacher has successfully passed an intense application process and has been approved to meet VocalizeU's highest standards and bring a high level of knowledge, skill, and expertise to their students.

The VU Teacher Network is leading the way in vocal education, for both students and teachers. The mission of VIP is to provide a network of specialist teachers with a scientifically proven method of vocal technique for students around the globe. For the benefit of themselves and all other teachers within the VU Teacher network, each specialist teacher is committed to continual learning in the fields of vocal science, vocal technique, and other specialist areas of personal interest. The highlight of being part of the VU Teacher Network is that all teachers and their students benefit the knowledge of each individual teacher around the globe.

Each VIP teacher serves as a knowledge node which means we have contact to any of these expert teachers to assist in any area you need help with. For example if you need expert help in musical theater, performance or song interpretation we can easily skype one of these teachers who specialize in that area to assist the work we are doing during your lessons.

VIP Authorized teachers focus on ‘student-centered’ learning and are committed to the artistic process and goals of every singer they work with. The role of a VIP Instructor is to support a singer’s artistic freedom and instill confidence through the application.

About the Speech Level Singing Method

The Speech Level Singing technique Stuart teaches is based on the 17th and 18th Century principles of singing developed by the Old Italian School of Singing. The method allows the student to sing in a free and natural manner, smoothly, from the bottom of the range to the top with no breaks or sudden changes in quality. Training in this technique gives the singer access to all dynamics, with tonal clarity and flexibility. Also, training in this technique helps improve a singer’s range, endurance, stamina, breath control, resonance, vocal strength and vocal quality across all styles of music without fatigue or damage to the voice.  Stuart accomplishs these results by training the singer to find a balance between airflow and intrinsic muscular resistance, all within a resting laryngeal posture.
